Rivero Elevated to Bishop in Global United Fellowship

The Rev. Dr. Eduardo “Eddie” Rivero reached another ministerial milestone recently with his elevation to the office of bishop in the Lord’s Church within Global United Fellowship (GUF).
Presiding Bishop Joel R. Peebles officially consecrated Rivero, the President of the Global Network of Churches and Ministries, to the position during the organization’s global congress on July 16, 2024, in Washington, DC.
Unlike traditional denominations, GUF, a network of 6,500 churches worldwide, considers itself “an international body of spiritual leaders, fellowships and congregations united to strategically plan, implement and execute transformative and generational change as well as expand the Kingdom of God to all the nations of the world.”
In 2019, Rivero was appointed Provincial Leader of the newly formed Spanish Caribbean Province, assigned to oversee churches in Cuba and the Dominican Republic. His responsibilities have been expanded to include Latin America. Elated about the appointment, Rivero said, “The wonderful thing about GUF is that it is a fellowship. We all come from different evangelical denominational backgrounds. Yet, our fellowship brings together pastors and churches, both locally and globally, to work together to expand the kingdom of God and improve our ministries and communities.”
Rivero, the son of Cuban immigrants, was born and raised in Miami, Florida. He pioneered three congregations in the South Florida area and pastored eight congregations over his 35 years of pastoral ministry. He also served with distinction as a police chaplain in the Miami-Dade Police Department for twenty years. In 2022, he relocated to Lakeland. Florida, where his ministry work took on an international scope. He is also a consultant for Builder International, a non-profit foundation whose mission is to build churches, Bible Schools, human trafficking rescue centers, and medical facilities worldwide.
Joining Bishop Rivero at this momentous occasion was his wife of 39 years, Maria Leon-Rivero, a retired educator; his son, SMSgt David Rivero, wife Min-Jeong Rivero; grandchildren, Angela and Andrew; and his daughter Sara Rivero-Shepherd, and husband, Luke Shepherd.
